Helping Every Child Be the Best They Can Be
At Strawberry Fields, we want to see the world through children's eyes and encourage them to be the best they can be. That belief sits at the heart of everything we do — from the activities we plan to the way our team interacts with every child, every day.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Development Matters — the national standard for learning and development in children from birth to five. But we don't just follow it — we bring it to life through play, exploration and real experiences that spark curiosity and build confidence.
Our Curriculum Themes
We begin each year with our 'All About Me' theme, then weave nature, seasons and the wider environment through everything that follows.
All About Me
Supporting children as they discover and understand their own identities and cultivate self-awareness — the foundation everything else is built on.
Nature & Habitats
Nature-based themes introduce youngsters to animals, minibeasts and a variety of habitats, with plenty of hands-on discovery along the way.
Seasons & Environment
Children explore the weather and the unique qualities of spring, summer, autumn and winter — fostering appreciation for the world around them.
Learning Through Play
Young children learn best when they're having fun. That's not just our philosophy — it's backed by decades of research into early childhood development.
Every activity, from messy play and music sessions to outdoor exploration and story time, is carefully designed to develop key skills across the seven areas of the EYFS.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
We nurture confidence, emotional regulation, and positive relationships.
Communication & Language
We support children in listening, understanding, and expressing themselves confidently.
Physical Development
We promote both gross motor skills — movement and coordination — and fine motor skills for handling tools and materials.
Literacy
Early skills in reading and writing, fostered through engaging activities.
Mathematics
Children learn to recognise numbers, patterns and shapes in playful contexts.
Understanding the World
Exploring cultures, communities and the wider natural environment.
Expressive Arts & Design
Creativity and imagination developed through art, music, drama and design.
Tailored to Every Age
What a six-month-old needs is very different from what a three-year-old is ready for. That's why our curriculum adapts across our three rooms.
Blueberries
0–2 YEARS
The focus is on sensory exploration, building secure attachments and reaching those exciting early milestones. Activities are gentle, responsive and led by your baby's interests and rhythms.
Blackberries
2–3 YEARS
Curiosity and confidence take centre stage. Toddlers explore through structured play, creative activities and early social interactions. This is where language really starts to blossom.
Strawberries
3–4 YEARS
We build school readiness. Children develop early reading, writing and number skills alongside the social confidence and independence they'll need for reception class.
Keeping You Involved
Your child's learning journey isn't something that just happens behind nursery doors. We send regular updates, photos and observations so you can see exactly what your child has been up to and how they're developing.
We believe parents and practitioners work best as a team — and we're always happy to chat about your child's progress.
Going Above and Beyond
Our commitment to your child's development doesn't stop at the EYFS. When our team notices a child may need extra support — whether that's with speech and language, behaviour or any other area — we take proactive steps.
We work closely with health visitors and external professionals to make sure every child gets the support they need, as early as possible.
